I know this isn’t all that *sexy* but I thought you lovely GFE callers might want to know some of the other things going on with the delectable Ms Holly. You should all be well aware by now that I am training for the Columbus Half Marathon in October. I’m hoping this crazy heat wave won’t last much longer because I have had a hard time working out at 9pm or 6am! On days I can’t get out and about during the crisp hours…. or maybe they are just not “crisp” enough for me I go to my gym to train. However, eventually people are going to be mad if I start doing 90 minute trainings on the treadmill that is supposed to shared!
I am using my regular personal trainer to help me train for this half. We have done them before but this time is a bit different. She runs a coaching service specifically for endurance sports. So, instead of last time where I would be running x miles a week or so this time around my training is much more specific. We are using trainingpeaks.com which is an amazing site if you haven’t used it before. Each week she loads my workouts. Tells me exactly what to do each day and how to think about the run. For example, yesterday I had these Rep Runs. I would do a fast paced run (about 5k speed) for 4 minutes, then 2 minutes of walking, 2 minutes of a light jog. I would repeat the process 5 times. The point behind those is to push myself to run a bit faster and gain my confidence a bit. Hopefully by the end of training I will be cutting my time and running faster the whole race. Does that make sense?
